Egypt makes progress in transition to sustainable market economy – Report
Competitiveness score rose to 3.08 in 2019 from 2.96 in 2018

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has achieved significant progress in transition to sustainable market economy during 2019, according to a report released by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

According to EBRD’s 'Transition Report 2019-20: Better Governance, Better Economies', the score given to Egypt in terms of competitiveness registered 3.08 in 2019 from 2.96 in 2018.

Scores given to the North African nation stood at 4.83 in governance reforms from 4.68 in 2018; 5.19 in terms of transition to a green economy from 5.06 in 2018; 3.51 in inclusiveness, compared to 3.51 a year earlier; 5.60 in resilience, compared to 5.51 in 2018; and 4.43 in integration, up from 4.42 in 2018.

“Scores range from 1 to 10, where 10 represents a synthetic frontier corresponding to the standards of a sustainable market economy,” the report indicated.
