Egypt’s securitisation bonds hit EGP 18bn year-to-date – FRA chairman

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has issued securitisation bonds worth EGP 18 billion since the beginning of 2019, compared to EGP 5.3 billion in 2018, Reuters reported on Tuesday, citing the chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), Mohamed Omran, as saying.

The total value of securities in the Egyptian capital market exceeded EGP 1 trillion in the last ten years, Omran revealed in a press conference in Cairo.

In addition, the total value of securitisation bonds amounted to about EGP 45 billion over the last ten years, he added.

The micro-funding market regulated and supervised by the FRA is valued at about EGP 15 billion, benefiting about 3.5 customers, the FRA’s chairman noted.
