Finland appoints world’s youngest Prime Minister

Mubasher: Sanna Marin (34 Years) has been chosen as the new Prime Minister of Finland, which makes her the youngest serving prime minister in the world, Reuters reported.

Sanna Marin has been a member of the Finnish parliament since 2015, and Minister of Transport and Communications since June 2019.

Marin’s cabinet is set to consist of 12 female and seven male ministers, including 32-year old party leader Katri Kulmuni, who will hold the Minister of Finance position.

Kulmuni was also first elected to the parliament in 2015, before obtaining her Master’s degree in Social Science from the University of Lapland in 2018 and becoming Minister of Economic Affairs.

The full new cabinet is set to be announced on Tuesday, Reuters reported citing members of the Centre Party, which is leading a coalition government that consists of five parties, four of which are led by women.

Marin will succeed 57-year old Antti Rinne, who resigned last week, becoming the third female to head the government of Finland.
