UAE’s ICT, Musanada complete 60% of Umm Lafina project
The project is slated for completion by Q3-2020

UAE – Mubasher: The Integrated Transport Centre (ICT) and Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada) have announced that work is progressing according to the agreed construction plan in the AED 1.131 billion Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Road extension project at Umm Lafina and Al Reem Islands.

Slated for completion and delivery by the third quarter of 2020, the project includes two contracts, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported on Saturday.

The completion in the project averaged 60%; standing at 57% in the first contract and 62% in the second contract, respectively.

“Musanada explained that the Umm Lafina project will involve construction of an 11 km-long road connecting Al Reem Island with Umm Lafina Island and then extend to connect both islands with Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Road in Abu Dhabi at the intersection with Dhafeer Street,” WAM said.

Moreover, the project will comprise the construction of 5 concrete bridges and two overwater bridges with a total length of around 6.3 km above water and 4.7 km-long road works.

“Umm Lafina road will serve the existing and future traffic volumes between the development projects such as Al Reem Island, Al Maryah Island, Umm Lafina Island, and Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Road, with the maximum capacity reaching up to 6,600 trips per hour in each direction,” ICT noted, according to WAM.
