RAKEZ leads eco-friendly projects in Ras Al Khaimah
Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ)

UAE - Mubasher: Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ) has become the first institution to promote Ras Al Khaimah’s Energy Efficiency and Renewables Strategy 2040.

Through its upcoming projects, the economic zone was dedicated to conforming with Barjeel, the green building regulations of the emirate, which is currently undergoing a phase of voluntary application before being obligatory in 2020, according to a press release on Wednesday.

Moreover, RAKEZ is currently building two new Barjeel-compliant warehouses and labour accommodations in its Al Hamra Industrial Zone. The projects are likely to contribute to higher efficiency of buildings and lower energy consumption along with “significant” water savings.

Commenting on this, Group CEO of RAKEZ, Ramy Jallad, revealed, “The project will play a significant role in reducing energy and water bills by giving our clients the opportunity to install and use alternative energy resources, such as renewable energy from PV solar panels.”

He added that the project will not be only advantageous to clients economically, as it will also allow RAKEZ to make the business community aware of the benefits of energy efficiency for future generations.

Recently launched in 2019 by Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, Barjeel brings sustainability standards for new buildings across the emirate.
