Egypt to execute new roads at EGP 5.37bn in Sixth of October
The southern ring road of 22 kilometres long has four lanes

Cairo – Mubasher: New Roads with a total length of 93 kilometres will be established in the 6th of October city at a cost of EGP 5.37 billion, including 18 industrial works and nine pedestrian bridges, Egypt's minister of housing, Assem El-Gazzar, announced.

El-Gazzar stressed, during his visit to a number of major roads and bridges in Sixth of October, that the ministry is committed to the completion deadline of these projects, noting that the number of workers and equipment will be increased to achieve this purpose, according to a press release.

Meanwhile, the head of 6th of October City Development Authority, Sherif El-Sherbini, referred that the central ring road has two phases; the first one, at a cost of EGP 918 million, is located from the intersection of Al-Wahat road to Al-Fayoum road.

El-Sherbini further remarked that the first phase aims to reduce traffic congestion by relieving pressure from Al Fayoum road and raise efficiency and expand the southern Dahshur connection to accommodate heavy vehicles.

Meanwhile, he said that the second phase has four main lanes and two services lanes.

The head of 6th of October City Development Authority noted that developing Al-Wahat road with a total length of 30 kilometres includes five bridges and a three-lane road to improve the main road.

He concluded that the southern ring road of 22 kilometres long has four lanes in each side and a two-lane road for trucks to relieve traffic congestion.
