Egyptian ministry: Avaya to open new international software centre
The cooperation aims to provide the best technological solutions

Cairo Mubasher: The Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, and the President of Avaya International, Nidal Abou-Ltaif, have discussed areas of cooperation in qualifying and training human workforce and using Avaya’s smart software platforms.

The cooperation aims to provide the best technological solutions to support Egypt in its digital transformation journey. It will further promote innovation and polish Egyptian skills to further their competitiveness globally, according to a recent press release.

The two parties agreed to set up an international centre in Egypt to develop and upgrade Avaya software while catering to all countries where Avaya operates.

The centre will represent “an enabling environment” for innovation adoption in the field of Research and Development (R&D) of cloud computing-based smart technologies, software and solutions while contributing to the efficiency of human skills.

Building on this, employees of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) will have access to the Avaya Cloud, a cloud computing unified communication platform. This will be achieved in collaboration with the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and the Information Technology Institute (ITI).

It is worthy to mention that the ministry has partnered with Avaya in launching the technical centre for Persons With Disabilities (PwDs) to allow the visually and hearing-impaired people to access emergency, ambulance, and firefighting services through ‘Wasel’ application, which provides visual communication through sign language and visual signs with employees in these departments.
