Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Dana Gas stated that its facilities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) have not been under threat following the recent heightened geopolitical tensions.

The company’s business in Iraq is going smoothly and is located far from the area where the ongoing tensions are, head of investor relations in Dana Gas, Mohammmed Mubaideen, told Mubasher on Thursday.

He added that the oil firm is continuously taking all necessary precautions to protect its business in the KRI.

Moreover, the company owns assets exceeding $1.6 billion in the KRI that are unceasingly fully operating since 2008, despite all tensions occurring in the region, Mubaideen noted.

The company still plans to double its output to 900 million cubic feet per day by the year 2023, he revealed, adding that two gas pipelines with a capacity of 250 million cubic feet per day are set to be added in line with the company’s plans to expand in the KRI.

On 8 January, Iran targeted two bases in Iraq that house American troops with missiles in retaliation to the killing of Qasem Soleimani, the head of the Quds Force, the division of Iran's powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Friday, 3 January.
