JP Morgan heads M&A financial advisers league table in 2019

Mubasher: GlobalData, a data analytics company, said that JP Morgan topped ten financial advisers in the latest global mergers and acquisitions (M&A) league table for the information and communication technology (ICT) sector based on deal value in 2019.

The New York-based financial institution registered a deal value worth $219.9 billion for advising on 71 agreements, according to a recent press release.

Moreover, Goldman Sachs was ranked the second with 79 deals worth $194.4 billion, followed by Morgan Stanley with 60 deals at $136.7 billion.

Commenting on this, GlobalData’s financial deals analyst, Nagarjun Sura, said, “Latham & Watkins emerged as the top legal adviser in the ICT sector, mainly driven by its involvement in Fiserv’s acquisition of First Data. Interestingly, all top five legal advisers participated in this transaction.”

Global ICT deals market in 2019

The ICT sector declined by 11.29% year-on-year (YoY) in deal value as it reached $679.9 billion in 2019 when compared to $766.4 billion. In contrast, deal volume increased by 18.05% YoY in 2019 to 19,093 from 16,173.  

Goldman Sachs registered the first place in GlobalData’s recently released global league table listing top 20 M&A financial advisers, followed by JP Morgan.   

Latham & Watkins heads top 10 M&A legal advisers list

The American law firm Latham & Watkins led ten legal advisers table in 2019 with a value worth $162.6 billion carried out through 133 deals. Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton followed with 39 deals and a combined value of $160.4 billion, while Kirkland & Ellis was ranked the third with 169 deals worth $146.8 billion.
