Mubasher: Kuwait’s non-oil exports surged by 54.3% year-on-year in December 2019, according to a statement by the commerce and industry ministry on Tuesday.

The number of certificates of origin for Kuwaiti non-oil exports to other countries worldwide totaled 1,445 at a value of KWD 18.5 million ($61.1 million) in December 2019, compared to 1,117 at a value of KWD 11.9 million ($39.3 million) in the same month in 2018.

The certificates of origin to the GCC countries amounted to 919 at a cost of KWD 8.7 million in December 2019 from 897 valued at KWD 6.5 million in the same period a year earlier.

Qatar topped the GCC countries in the value of the certificates with KWD 3.1 million, followed by the UAE with KWD 3 million, Saudi Arabia with KWD 2 million, and Bahrain with KWD 249,000.

At the same time, the certificates of origin for Kuwait’s non-oil exports to Arab countries reached 408 valued at KWD 5.8 million in December 2019 from 145 at KWD 3.5 million in the same period a year earlier.
