Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia score on the United Nations (UN) Human Development Index (HDI) has increased during 2019.

Accordingly, Saudi Arabia’s global ranking advanced from the 39th place in 2018 to 36 last year, among 189 countries, according to the 2019 Human Development Report, issued by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The Saudi score on HDI value reached 0.857, putting the Kingdom in the very high human development category.

Between 1990 and 2018, Saudi Arabia’s HDI value increased from 0.698 to 0.857, an increase of 22.8%, life expectancy at birth increased by 5.9 years, mean years of schooling increased by four years and expected years of schooling increased by 6.2 years, the report noted.

During the same time, Saudi Arabia’s gross national income (GNI) per capita increased by about 11.6%.
