Egypt’s iron, cement exports hit $777m in 11M
Saudi Arabia topped importers of crude iron and steel from Egypt

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s exports of crude iron, steel, and cement plunged by 41.3% year-on-year to $777 million in the first eleven months of 2019, compared to $1.098 billion, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) recently reported, citing official data.

Crude iron and steel exports declined by 34% to $635 million during the January-November period of 2019, compared to $968 million in the year-ago period, according to data released by the Export Council for Building Materials, Refractory, and Metallurgy Industries (ECBM).

Saudi Arabia topped importers of crude iron and steel from Egypt with $189 million, followed by Sudan with $47 million and Spain with $46 million.

Meanwhile, cement exports rose by 10% to $142 million in the eleven-month period ended 30 November, compared to $130 million in the corresponding period a year earlier.

Libya led cement importers with $69.469 million, followed by the US and Saudi Arabia with $11.367 million and $11.105, respectively.
