Mubasher: Tesla is reportedly planning to open a design and research centre in China to make ‘Chinese-style’ vehicles, according to Reuters.

The American automaker seeks to recruit designers and other staff, calling for applications by 1 February.

Tesla did not release the location of the new centre nor the date on which it might start its operations.

The electric vehicles company opened its first factory outside the US in China’s city of Shanghai, which started delivering China-made Model 3 vehicles this month.

Last week, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk launched a Model Y electric sports utility vehicle programme at its factory in Shanghai.
