Egypt eyes 5.8-5.9% GDP growth in FY19/20
The overall budget deficit widened to 3.8% in H1-19/20

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian finance minister Mohamed Maait expected the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) to grow by 5.8-5.9% by the end of fiscal year 2019/2020, compared to a previous target of 5.6%, Reuters reported on Monday.

During the first half of FY19/20, the North Africa nation achieved a primary surplus of EGP 30.5 billion, representing 0.5% of the country’s GDP, Maait added in a press conference.

Maait further revealed that the overall budget deficit widened to 3.8% in the July-December period of 2019, compared to 3.6% in the year-ago period.
