Egypt’s local debt dips EGP 102.8bn in Q1-19/20
Net domestic debt owed by the Egyptian government fell to EGP 3.658 trillion

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s gross domestic debt fell by 2.39% or EGP 102.87 billion to EGP 4.186 trillion at the end of the three-month period ended 30 September 2019, compared to EGP 4.288 trillion at the end of last June.

Net domestic debt owed by the Egyptian government plunged by 72.7% to EGP 3.658 trillion in the first quarter of fiscal year 2019/2020, while net debt of public economic authorities dropped by EGP 31.6 billion to EGP251.3  billion, according to the monthly statistical bulletin released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

Meanwhile, net debt owed by the National Investment Bank (NIB) rose by EGP 1.4 billion to EGP 276.5 billion in Q1 of FY19/20.
