Egypt’s annual tourism revenue may reach $30bn in five years

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s tourism revenue is expected to achieve a compounded annual growth of 13% to reach $29.7 billion over the next five years, exhibition director of Arabian Travel Market 2020 (ATM) Danielle Curtis stated on Tuesday.

Egypt is a key market for GCC countries, Curtis said, adding that the North African country received 1.84 million visitors from the GCC in 2019.

The number of visitors from the GCC to Egypt are expected to surge to 2.64 million by 2024, Curtis revealed.

The top official noted that total spending by GCC tourists in Egypt is projected to soar 11% year-on-year to $2.36 billion in 2020.

In 2019, Egypt’s tourism revenue recorded $12.6 billion, whereas the number of visitors jumped 57.5% YoY to 17.8 million.

It is noteworthy that the ATM welcomed almost 40,000 people in 2019, displaying representations from 150 countries, as well as more than 100 exhibitors.
