Uber Egypt considers incorporating taxis in its services
The move will create opportunities for Egyptian drivers

Cairo – Mubasher: Uber Egypt on Tuesday announced that it is planning to include existing taxi cabs into the ride-hailing services it offers in the North African country, according to Ahram Online.

The move is aimed at meeting different needs of the Egyptian market and the creation of economic opportunities for drivers, Uber said.

However, an Egyptian organised group of taxi drivers stated that it rejects the global ride-hailing company’s plan.

"Uber wants to take a 19% commission from white taxi drivers without any additional benefit to the driver,” the group’s head Mahmoud Abdel Hamid said, quoted by Ahram Online.

Abdel Hamid revealed that his group, which includes 7,000 members, is planning to launch an app for riders in March 2020.
