Dubai – Mubasher: DP World, UAE Region will host the fifth edition of Breakbulk Middle East (BBME), the largest project cargo and breakbulk event in the GCC, for the second year in a row.

With the aim of strengthening the UAE’s position in maritime economy, the event is scheduled to take place on 25-26 February at the Dubai World Trade Center in Dubai, under the patronage of Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, the infrastructure development minister and the chairman of the Federal Transport Authority (FTA) for Land and Maritime, according to a recent press release.

The CEO & managing director of DP World, Mohammed Al Muallem, said: “Over 61% of cargo destined for GCC states arrives via the UAE’s seaports. This figure demonstrates the importance which ports play in maintaining not only our country’s well-being, but also the overall region.”

He added: “Breakbulk Middle East enables clear communication lines between all members of the industrial supply chain that are involved in the exchange of vital imports and exports. With a large majority of these entities represented at Breakbulk Middle East, the event serves as a strong platform to reconnect, source new partners, and strategize for the overall benefit of the industry.”

Meanwhile, marketing director of Breakbulk events and media, Leslie Meredith, remarked: “In addition to our partnership with DP World, UAE Region, we are also collaborating with other prominent industry names: Abu Dhabi Ports, Agility Project Logistics, Micco, Cosco Shipping, to name a few.”
