Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are reportedly preparing to resume crude oil production from Khafji oilfield in the neutral zone later this month.
Initial output at 10,000 barrels per day (b/d) is expected around the end of February, Reuters reported citing industry sources.
By August, the field’s production is expected to reach 60,000 b/d.
Meanwhile, Wafra field is expected to begin initial production by late March.
The two countries signed agreements in December on sharing oil production in the zone.
Production in the 5,770-kilometer zone has been halted for more than four years.
Fields in the zone could produce around 500,000 barrels per day (b/d), around 0.5% of the global oil supply.
