Lincoln partners with Rivian to produce first fully electric vehicle

Mubasher: Lincoln, the luxury automotive brand of Ford Motor Company, has partnered with Rivian to develop an all-new electric vehicle, which is part of the previously announced Ford Motor Company’s original investment in Rivian.

The fully electric vehicle is also part of Ford’s investment of more than $11.5 billion into electrification, according to a recent press release.

Lincoln will add its first zero-emissions vehicle, featuring connected and intuitive technologies, to its Aviator and Corsair Grand Touring plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Under Lincoln’s partnership with Rivian, the battery of the vehicle will be built off of Rivian’s flexible skateboard platform.

At the same time, Lincoln’s production of the MKZ sedan will end for the Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico to produce new Ford vehicles.

Commenting on the partnership with Rivian, the president of The Lincoln Motor Company, Joy Falotico, said: “Working with Rivian marks a pivotal point for Lincoln as we move toward a future that includes fully electric vehicles.”

Meanwhile, Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe, referred: “Our vehicle development partnership with Ford is an exciting opportunity to pair our technology with Lincoln’s vision for innovation and refinement. We are proud to collaborate on Lincoln’s first fully electric vehicle.”
