EGX ends Tuesday mixed; market cap loses EGP 2.4bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Tuesday’s trading session on a varied note amid foreign purchases and local and Arab sell-offs.

The main EGX30 index went up by 0.26%, ending the mid-week session at 13,915 points.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) advanced to EGP 86 and generated EGP 112.8 million in turnover.

On the other hand, the EGX70 EWI declined by 0.14% to 1,263 points, while the EGX100 index fell by 0.27% to 1,379 points.

Meanwhile, the EGX50 index edged up by 0.19% to 1,916 points.

The market turnover stood at EGP 136.39 million after 633.17 million shares were exchanged through about 18,700 transactions.

Foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 415.811 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 407.23 million and EGP 8.5 million, respectively.

Market capitalisation lost EGP 2.4 billion to close at EGP 701.6 billion on Tuesday.
