Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s annual core inflation rate accelerated to 2.7% in January, compared to 2.4% in December 2019, according to data released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

The monthly core inflation recorded 0.7% last month, compared to 0.2% in December 2019 and 0.4% in January 2019, the CBE said in a statement on Monday.

It is noteworthy that the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced that the country’s annual headline inflation stabilised at 6.8% in January, compared to the same figure in December 2019.

The consumer price index (CPI) grew by 0.8% month-on-month to 105.2 points in January, the state-run statistics body revealed.
