UAE’s inflation continues to decline for 14th month in row
Emirates' CPI recorded 106.15 points in January 2020

UAE – Mubasher: The UAE’s inflation rate fell to 1.3% year-on-year (YoY) in January 2020, marking a a consecutive decline for 14 months, according to data by Dubai Statistics Centre (DSC).

The consumer price index (CPI) recorded 106.15 points in January 2020, compared to 108 points in the same month of 2019.

The prices of the housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels segment retreated by 5.37%, while the clothing and footwear fell by 3.21%.

Meanwhile, the recreation and culture as well as health segments have contributed to the inflation drop by 0.19% and 0.01%, respectively.

It is noteworthy to mention that in January 2019, the UAE’s inflation rate declined to 2.4%, dropping to the negative territory for the first time since 2017.
