UAE-China bilateral trade records $34.7bn in 9M

UAE – Mubasher: The bilateral trade between the China and the UAE increased by 6.01% to $34.7 billion during the first nine months of 2019, when compared to the corresponding period of 2018, the Chinese Ambassador to the UAE, Ni Jian, told Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Jian remarked that China’s exports to the UAE climbed by 9.94% to $23.5 billion during the first nine months of 2019 from their levels in 2018.

On the other hand, China’s imports from the UAE declined by 1.36% to $11.23 billion during the first three quarters of 2019, when compared to the same period in 2018, due to lower oil prices.

The Chinese Ambassador added that China’s overall direct investment in the UAE surged by 171% annually to $660 million.

Meanwhile, the UAE Minister of Economy, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, said that the UAE represents 26% of total non-oil-foreign trade between China and Arab countries, making the UAE the most important trade partner for the Asian country in the Arab world.
