Kuwait’s local liquidity down 1% in January
Local liquidity inched down by 0.19% monthly in January

Mubasher: Local liquidity in the Kuwaiti banking sector declined by 1.39% on an annual basis by the end of January 2020 for the third consecutive month, according to recent data by the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK).

Money supply (M2) in Kuwaiti banks stood at KWD 380.05 billion ($125 billion) last January from KWD 38.59 billion ($126.77 billion) in the same month a year earlier.  

On a monthly basis, local liquidity inched down by 0.19% in January after it recorded KWD 38.12 billion a month earlier.

Annually, the total value of currency in circulation and coins of different denominations increased to KWD 1.84 billion in the 2020-period, compared to KWD 1.74 billion, with the first accounting for KWD 1.81 billion of the total and the second representing KWD 29.04 billion.
