Kuwait announces 2-week holiday on coronavirus fears
Work will be resumed as of 29 March

Mubasher: The Kuwaiti government announced a public holiday for two weeks starting Thursday, 12 March, until 26 March, amid worries over coronavirus (COVID-19), Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) said.

Work will be resumed as of 29 March, the cabinet’s official spokesperson, Tareq Al Mizrem disclosed.  

He added that the deputy premier, the interior minister, and the state for cabinet affairs minister were assigned a task to coordinate with health authorities and other competent bodies to ensure that all vital sectors work normally.  

In addition, all clubs and private gyms will be closed and people will be banned from going to restaurants and cafes, including those inside shopping malls.  

On Wednesday, a total of 72 coronavirus infections were detected in Kuwait.
