Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) will pay ATM withdrawal fees for pensioners for a period of six months on behalf of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, an official source told the Middle East News Agency (MENA).
A total of 6 million people out of 8 million pensioners do not have banking cards and will benefit from this decision, the state-run agency reported on Sunday.
The remaining 2 million pensioners who have banking cards have already been exempt from ATM withdrawal fees.
A fee of EGP 3 is charged on each ATM transaction, the source added.
Pensioners can use more than 13,000 ATMs spread across all governorates, the source added.
