Mawani signs largest BOT agreement in Saudi Arabia
The SAR 7 billion deal will raise the port's capacity by 120%

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) signed the largest contract with a single entity in its history in the kingdom.

With investments of more than SAR 7 billion, Mawani agreed with the Saudi Global Ports (SGP) to build and operate container terminals at the King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam.

The 30-year build–operate–transfer (BOT) contract will see SGP build and operate container terminals at the Dammam port, raising capacity by more than 120% to 7.5 million containers.

Under the support of Prince Saud bin Nayef, Governor of the Eastern Province, the contract was signed in the presence of by Mawani chairman and the Saudi Minister of Transport, Saleh Al Jasser; the president of Mawani, Saad Alkhalb; chairman of SPG Abdullah Al Zamil; and Singapore’s Minister of Transport, Khaw Boon Wan.

It is worth noting that the signing ceremony took place through a videoconference.
