Mubasher: The Kuwait Port Authority (KPA) and the Public Authority for Industry (PAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to lay the cornerstone for the study, design, and construction of an industrial port at the south of Kuwait, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

The MoU was signed by KPA’s general manager, Abdulkarim Taqi, and the director general of PAI, Sheikh Yousef Abdullah Al Sabah.

Taqi said that the MoU aims to elevate Kuwait’s position worldwide and enhance its local manufacturing capability.

The final agreement will be reached after obtaining official approvals from the boards of KPA and PAI, he clarified.

In line with the vision of the Kuwaiti Emir for mutual collaborations between government bodies, this initiative will provide the infrastructure required to attract international industrial investments while securing job opportunities for public and private sectors and increasing the state’s non-oil revenues.

PAI will be responsible for the design, construction, and operation of the new port when the project's studies are approved, while KPA will choose and supervise industrial activities.
