Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) on Sunday has resumed passenger train operations at more than 99% seat occupancy, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Two passenger train trips have left early this day between Riyadh and Dammam through Abqaiq and Hofuf stations, carrying 143 and 118 passengers, respectively.

The SRO has undertaken a series of precautionary and preventive measures to ensure the safety of the public against the highly contagious coronavirus (COVID-19), namely a temperature check and a mandatory face mask for all passengers as well as ensuring adherence to social distancing rules while boarding.

In a similar move, the Saudi Public Transport Company (SAPTCO) has announced the resumption of its transport services inside and outside all Saudi cities excluding Mecca.

The step was in line with the directives to relax coronavirus measures and gradually restore normal life, according to a bourse filing.

SAPTCO added that all preventive protocols approved by competent authorities in this regard will be applied.
