TASI closed the month at 7,213 points

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) gained 1.41% during May, as it closed at 7,213 points, compared with its level by the end of April at 7,112 points, gaining 100.13 points.

The main index recorded market cap gains of SAR 322.4 billion ($86 billion), as market capitalization increased to SAR 8.33 trillion ($2.22 trillion), up from about SAR 8 trillion ($2.13 trillion) last month.

It is worth noting that May witnessed the five-day vacation of Eid Al Fitr, which marked the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Monthly traded volumes amounted to 3.57 billion shares, down by 24.5% compared with last month’s 4.74 billion shares.

During May, traded values declined by 20.71% to SAR 75.80 billion ($20.2 billion), compared with SAR 95.6 billion ($25.49 billion) in April.

As for the market sectors, 12 sectorial indices registered gains in the ending month, led by food retail that rose by 16.48%.

The telecom and materials sectors added 5.9% and 4.57%, while energy and banks levelled up by 3.23% and 0.54%, respectively.

On the other hand, nine sectors ended the month in losses, led by the real estate sector that dropped by 9.96%.
