DEWA retenders Hassyan desalination plant

DEWA retenders Hassyan desalination plant
DEWA has invited bids for the tendering process

UAE - Mubasher: The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has retendered its Hassyan Sea Water Reverse Osmosis Plant project of 120 million gallons per day, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

DEWA has invited bids for the tendering process on its first project using the Independent Water Producer (IWP) model before the submission deadline on 3 August 2020.

The Hassyan desalination plant will be commissioned by August 2023, using the latest technologies to ensure sustainable water supply.

The managing director and CEO of DEWA, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, said: "We are building production plants based on reverse osmosis, which requires less energy than the multi-stage flash distillation based plants, making it a more sustainable choice for water desalination."

Al Tayer added: "DEWA aims to produce 100% of desalinated water by a mix of clean energy and waste heat."
