Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) on Wednesday announced the collaboration with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) via its Innovation Energy Incubator to reduce non-technical energy wastage and save millions of lost returns.
The SEC wants to benefit from KAUST’s expertise in the fields of business analysis and machine learning to see if they could help to limit the non-technical loss and increase profitability, according to a press release.
The collaboration between SEC and KAUST started back in 2018 when they cooperated to reduce losses occurring due to fraud, wastage, and misuse in the Saudi electric power sector.
Manager of Innovation Energy Incubator, Khalid AlDossary, stated that the lost returns that could be restored by SEC are estimated at a minimum of SAR 73 million.
Innovative DistriMod project represents the SEC in this collaboration, the statement added.
