Egypt's annual headline inflation registers 5% in May – CAPMAS
The prices of fruits rose by 4.7%

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's annual headline inflation rose by 0.1% to 107.7 points in May from 107.5 points a month earlier, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced on Wednesday.

Th rise in inflation rate as ascribed to a growth in prices of fruits, meat and poultry, grains and bread, private transportation fares, ready-made garments, and hospital services by 4.7%, 2%, 0.4%, 1.6%, 1.3%, and 0.6%, respectively.

On the other hand, the prices of vegetables, fish and seafood, as well as dairy, cheese and eggs fell by 4.7%, 1.8%, 0.2%, in that order.

Year-on-year, the most populous Arab nation’s annual inflation registered 5% in May, compared to 13.2%.
