Riyadh - Mubasher: The Company for Cooperative Insurance (Tawuniya) has delivered 21 drive-thru coronavirus (COVID-19) mass testing centres to the Ministry of Health (MoH) in an attempt to support the ministry’s efforts and strategies in containing the novel virus through expanding testing capacities.

A Tawuniya team supervised the building process for the fixed and movable drive-thru facilities, some of which were handed over to Riyadh, Mecca, Al Madina Al Munawara, Abha, Dammam, and Jeddah, with more cities to be covered later as per the best international practices, according to a press release on Thursday.

The centres examine more than 8,000 visitors per day with a capacity of up to 20,000 tests daily. Every centre has between 10 and 14 car lanes in addition to others dedicated to the people with special needs and the elderly.

The drive-thru facilities were designed and constructed at the expenses of the insurer, the statement said, adding that Tawuniya will provide comprehensive insurance protection for the centres and their components against all risks, including fire and natural risks, for one year at a compensation up to SAR 2.3 million per centre.
