UNICEF supports Egypt's efforts against COVID-19 with $17m
Egypt obtained $100 million in grants from the UNICEF in two years

Cairo – Mubasher: The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has provided Egypt with $17 million to support the country’s efforts against the coronavirus (COVID-19), minister of international cooperation Rania Al-Mashat said in a statement on Monday. 

The UNICEF will also provide the country with the required medical supplies in the upcoming period to help the government in its fight against the pandemic, UNICEF’s representative to Egypt, Bruno Maes, told Al-Mashat.

Over the last two years, the most populous Arab nation obtained $100 million in grants from the UNICEF under social security and children’s and women’s health programmes, Al-Mashat revealed.

The grants were directed to the establishment of several development projects, including projects in the neediest areas in North Sinai.
