UAE - Mubasher: The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has approved the use of the anti-viral drug Remdesivir in treating the coronavirus (COVID-19) patients in the country, according to a press release.

The approval is supported by clinical data of the drug made by the US-based Gilead Sciences, which showed that it can help in speeding up the recovery of COVID-19 patients, amid the absence of a vaccine or drug for the virus.

The drug manufacturer referred on Sunday that it has scaled-up the manufacturing of Remdesivir to increase available supply.

The company did not declare the price of Remdesivir drug in the UAE, although it had earlier said that the drug would cost $390 per vial for governments in developed countries and $520 per vial for private insurers.
