Egypt extends decision to unfreeze assets in tax disputes until September-end
Taxpayers can pay only 1% of the due taxes to unfreeze their assets

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Tax Authority decided to extend the decision of unfreezing assets in tax disputes until the end of September.

This move is part of the government’s efforts to relieve the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on economy, according to a statement on Monday.

Taxpayers can pay 1% of the due taxes to unfreeze their assets.

Upon the payment of 5% of the due taxes and rescheduling the payment of the remaining 95% in instalments over a maximum period of two years, taxpayers will not be charged any late penalties or additional charges. However, this will not apply to businesses that were liquidated or halted their operations.
