Egypt pays EGP 331m to workers hit by coronavirus
Egypt paid EGP 196.373 million to 189,313 workers in 2,700 tourism businesses

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt is currently disbursing EGP 331.65 million to support workers hit by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, including those working in tourism as well as spinning and weaving sectors, the country’s manpower minister, Mohamed Saafan, announced.

The Labour Emergency Fund has paid 100% of basic salary to about 288,740 workers in 2,898 establishments, Saafan added in a statement on Wednesday.

Applications of another 458 businesses which suffered from the COVID-19 crisis are currently being considered.

Egypt paid EGP 196.373 million to 189,313 workers in 2,700 tourism businesses and EGP 98.702 million to about 76,670 workers in 97 spinning and weaving businesses.
