Egypt’s annual headline inflation slows down to 6% in June – CAPMAS
The prices of meat and poultry decreased by 5.6%

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s annual headline inflation rate fell to 6% in June, compared to 8.9% in the same month a year earlier, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a statement on Thursday. 

The consumer price index (CPI) dropped by 0.1% month-on-month (MoM), registering 107.5 points last month, the CAPMAS added.

The drop in inflation rate was ascribed to a decrease in the prices of meat and poultry by 5.6%, vegetables by 5.5%, fish and seafood by 2.9%, milk, cheese, and eggs by 1.9%, grains and bread by 0.6%, and hospitality services by 0.3%.

On the other hand, the prices of fruits, tobacco, ready-made garments, outpatient services, and personal care products increased by 18.8%, 4.2%, 1.2%, 1.8%, and 1%, respectively.
