Alexandria Customs issues clearance for EGP 3.9bn cars, spare parts in June
Some cars were exempt from the payment of more than EGP 1.105 billion

Cairo – Mubasher: Alexandria Customs collected total taxes of EGP 1.167 billion for issuing customs clearance for cars and spare parts at a combined value of EGP 3.905 billion in June, head of the Egyptian Customs Authority Kamal Negm said.

The state-run body collected total taxes of EGP 679 million for releasing about 7,030 private cars with a total value of EGP 2.157 billion in the eighteenth month of introducing zero tariffs on cars imported from the European Union (EU), according to a statement released by the Ministry of Finance on Thursday.

A large number of these cars were exempt from the payment of more than EGP 1.105 billion under the EU-Egypt association agreement and Agadir agreement.

In addition, Alexandria Customs collected taxes and charges of EGP 247 million for releasing 2,123 trucks, microbuses, motorcycles, and tractors valued at EGP 807 million in June.

Some of these vehicles were also exempt from EGP 48 million under the EU-Egypt association agreement and Agadir agreement.

The state-run body also collected taxes and charges of EGP 101 million for releasing 806 dispatches of spare parts valued at EGP 941 million, while some dispatches were exempt from the payment of EGP 20 million.
