UAE completes e-Dirham system transformation's first phase
The system will create new skills for digital financial governance

UAE - Mubasher: The UAE Ministry of Finance has completed the first phase of applying the e-Dirham system at the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Energy and Industry, and several national banks.

The e-Dirham system, which offers several banking services to issue bank cards and digital payment, will be expanded to add more federal government entities and national banks, according to a press release on Monday.

In line with the UAE Vision 2021, the national electronic payment system aims to guarantee flexible financial flow for the federal government service fees and contribute to the digital transformation of the UAE.

The system will also create new skills for digital financial governance, standards of information security systems, and database protection to fulfil the UAE Centennial 2071.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Industry (MOEI), Sharif Salim Al Olama, said: "E-Dirham is an innovative, secure and effective system that enables sustainable development."

The Deputy CEO and Group Head of Personal Banking at the First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), Hana Al Rostamani, remarked: "Switching to non-contact financial transactions today is crucial nowadays, in light of our focus on using the latest digital solutions."
