DCT Abu Dhabi expected a further rise in occupancy rates

UAE - Mubasher: Hotel occupancy rates in Abu Dhabi have increased by 3% since July 1 to show some progress in the tourism sector, as the UAE gradually resume international flights.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) expected a further rise in the occupancy rates in the coming period, driven by a number of initiatives set by the department to recover the sector.

DCT Abu Dhabi has put initiatives with industry partners and stakeholders to help hotels and cultural attractions in reopening, including the Go Safe certification programme to apply hygiene standards across all hotels.

These initiatives came alongside with the government's schemes to support the tourism sector, such as 20% rental rebates for restaurants and tourism facilities, and a suspension of tourism and municipality fees in 2020.

The executive director of Tourism and Marketing at DCT Abu Dhabi, Ali Hassan Al Shaiba, said: "The progress we have seen since the start of this month was achieved by simply leveraging our offerings and the existing high standard of hospitality, to help us speed up the enlivenment of our sector and elevate further from that point."
