CBE’s local liquidity hits EGP 4.35trn at end-April
Customer deposits rose by EGP 92 billion in April

Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced that local liquidity grew by EGP 4.489 billion or 12.7% from July 2019 to the end of last April to reach EGP 4.353 trillion, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported.

The increase in domestic liquidity was reflected in the growth of quasi-money by EGP 356.9 billion or 12.1% and the money supply by EGP 132.5 billion or 14.4%, a report released by the CBE showed.

Deposits

Moreover, customer deposits held by the Egyptian banking sector rose by EGP 92 billion to EGP 4.518 trillion in April from EGP 4.426 trillion in March.

Government deposits increased by EGP 50.6 billion to EGP 726.3 billion last April from EGP 675.7 billion a month earlier.

Loans

In addition, the value of loans provided by banks other than the CBE advanced by EGP 93 billion to EGP 2.093 trillion in April from EGP 2 trillion in March.

Credit Facilities

The volume of credit facilities granted by banks increased by EGP 13.9% or EGP 258.1 billion to EGP 2.112 trillion from July 2019 to last April.

Credit facilities provided by banks to non-government bodies reached EGP 157.1 billion, while those provided to the government stood at EGP 101 billion.
