Etisalat's profits drop to AED 4.566bn in H1-20; dividends approved

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Emirates Telecommunication Group (Etisalat) recorded net profits of AED 4.566 billion during the first six months of 2020, down from AED 4.443 billion in the same months of 2019.

The company's revenues decreased to AED 25.605 billion in the first half (H1) of 2020, compared to AED 25.868 billion during the corresponding period of 2019, according to the company's financial results for the period ended on 30 June 2020.

The group's consolidated earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) went down by 0.8% to AED 13.2 billion in H1 of 2020, when compared to the same period of 2019.

The basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) stood at AED 0.53 in H1 of 2020, against AED 0.51 in the same half of 2019.

For the second quarter (Q2) of 2020, the company's net profits increased to AED 2.387 billion, compared to AED 2.231 billion in the same quarter of the earlier year.

On the other hand, the company's debt amounted to AED 24.8 billion as of 30 June 2020, up AED 0.9 billion from AED 23.9 billion as at 31 December 2019.

Meanwhile, the company's board agreed on distributing interim cash dividends of 40 fils per share for the H1 of the current year.

It is noteworthy to mention that in the first quarter (Q1) of 2020, the company's consolidated net profits decreased by 2% to AED 2.179 billion from AED 2.212 billion in the same period of 2019.
