Bloomberg Terminals installed at five universities in Abu Dhabi

UAE - Mubasher: A total of 100 Bloomberg Terminals have been installed at five leading universities in Abu Dhabi as part of the ADNOC-Bloomberg Education Initiative, according to a recent press release.

In October 2019, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked between the UAE Ministry of Education, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and Bloomberg LP to launch a training and development programme known as the ADNOC-Bloomberg Education Initiative.

The programme aims to enable students to acquire specialised financial skills necessary for a globally connected world.

The terminals were installed at UAE University (UAEU), Abu Dhabi University (ADU), New York University- Abu Dhabi (NYU-AD), Khalifa University, and the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) Abu Dhabi Campus.

At these universities, students are provided with Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) certifications, an e-learning curriculum that introduces global financial markets to students.

Amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the programme has allowed for over 4,000 students to remotely have access to the terminals to encourage distance learning.

Commenting on the initiative, the Ministry of Education and assistant undersecretary for planning and development, Samer Al Samahi, remarked: “Facilitating and advancing quality research and education that enriches the next generation’s skills is a key focus of the National Higher Education Strategy.”

Meanwhile, the executive officer director at ADNOC, Omar Suwaina Al Suwaidi, commented: “The initiative will also help create a world-class talent pool for ADNOC’s new trading entities, supporting our strategy to build out our trading activities and capabilities in order to deliver greater value from our products.”
