Egypt pays EGP 347m to regular workers hit by COVID-19
Egypt paid EGP 207.657 million to workers in 3,195 tourism businesses

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has disbursed EGP 346.806 million to support workers hit by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, including those working in tourism as well as spinning and weaving sectors, the country’s manpower minister, Mohamed Saafan, announced.

The Labour Emergency Fund is paying 100% of the basic salary to about 299,530 workers in 3,393 businesses, Saafan added in a statement on Sunday.

This step is in line with the presidential directives to support workers in the sectors most impacted by the pandemic, such as the tourism sector.

Egypt paid EGP 207.657 million to 199,924 workers in 3,195 tourism businesses and EGP 98.702 million to about 76,675 workers in 97 spinning and weaving businesses as well as EGP 40.447 million to 22,931 workers in 101 businesses.
