Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's annual consumer price index (CPI) rose by 0.2% month-on-month (MoM) to 107.8 points in July, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced on Monday.
The annual headline inflation for July registered 4.6% in July, compared to 7.8% in the same month a year earlier and 6% in June 2020, data showed.
The monthly rise in inflation was attributed to an increase in prices of electricity, gas, and fuel by 11.2%, hotel services by 2.7%, outpatient services by 1.5%, and hospital services by 0.8%.
On the other hand, the prices of fruits as well as fish and seafood declined by 3.7% and 2.3%, respectively, while prices of meat and poultry fell by 2.2%, and milk, cheese, and eggs dropped by 0.3%.
