UAE – Mubasher: Ducab Group, the UAE-based provider of copper and aluminium, has achieved profitability in the first six months of 2020 despite the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, according to a press release on Wednesday.

With six manufacturing facilities across four sites in the UAE, the group registered sales of AED 2.2 billion in the first half (H1) of 2020.

The group's largest entity Ducab Cable Business continued to provide customers, in more than 22 export markets, with cables and accessories, recording sales volume of around 40,000 metal tonnes of conductors in H1-20.

Meanwhile, Ducab High Voltage (DHV) cable system has delivered 25% more kms of high voltage cables during the January-June period of 2020, as compared to the corresponding period of 2019.

As for Ducab Metal Business (DMB), its sales of copper rods increased by more than 15% in H1-20.

The chairman of Ducab, Ahmad bin Hassan Al Sheikh, said: "The current COVID-19 pandemic has tested businesses around the world—including the manufacturing sector. Resilience and business continuity have been the cornerstones of Ducab’s strategy."

Al Sheikh added: "Moreover, strong cash flows allowed debt levels to reduce in the core business, a result of which Ducab has brought down the total borrowings by an impressive 43% compared to the levels in H1 2019."

It is noteworthy to mention that in 2019, the group witnessed a 5% rise in its profits on an annual basis.
