Egypt’s wheat imports likely to drop this season – Report
Egypt's consumption is expected to stand at 20.8 million tonnes

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s wheat imports are expected to fall marginally to 13 million tonnes in marketing year 2020/2021 from 13.3 million a year earlier and 12.35 million in 2018/2019, according to a recent report by the US Department of Agriculture.

The rise in last year’s wheat imports was ascribed partially to government stockpiling during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the report showed.

The most populous Arab nation’s wheat consumption is expected to increase slightly to 20.8 million tonnes this season from 20.6 million, while its production is seen at 8.9 million from 8.77 million a year earlier.
